Home Library Service

The Colac, Camperdown and Warrnambool Libraries provide services to those unable to come to the library due to frailty, disability or ill health. The Home Library Service also delivers materials to aged care facilities and retirement villages. Temporary deliveries can also be arranged after hospitalization or illness.

How the service operates

Library staff select items for Home Service clients, and deliver them to their homes on a regular monthly basis, with the help of volunteers. Some clients choose their own materials from the home service van. The full range of library materials is available for loan, including large print books, talking books on tape or CD, and magazines.

How to join

If you are interested in joining the Home Library Service, please contact the Library Outreach Services Coordinator on 5231 4613 at Colac or the Warrnambool Home Service on 5559 4990. We will arrange to visit you to assess your eligibility and discuss your reading interests.

Become a volunteer

The home library service relies on the goodwill of volunteers who generously give their time to deliver library materials to housebound library members. Each volunteer delivers to the same people each month, to help build a friendly, personalized service. Only one to two hours is required.

If you would like to become a volunteer, please contact the library.
