How can I find the item I want?

  • Each branch has access to the online catalogue. You can search for title, author, subject or keyword.
  • Our catalogue covers the Corangamite Regional Library collection. It shows the Branch location, the type of material (e.g. large print, junior fiction, CD) and call number (the number on the spine label). The catalogue will show if the item is available or on loan.

How many items can I borrow?

  • There is a maximum limit of 30 items per card.
  • Loan period is generally 21 days for books and audio books (whether on tape or CD): 7 days for Magazines, Videos, and DVDs.
  • A printed slip will list items borrowed and the date for return.

How and when do I return the items I borrowed?

  • Items can be returned to any branch across the region
  • You will be issued with a slip of paper stating the title of your item and when it is due back. Items may be returned before the due date.
  • CDs, DVDs and videos are fragile. If possible return to library during opening hours.

I haven't finished my book/DVD yet. Can I borrow it again?

  • Most items can be renewed 2 times, DVDs cannot be renewed.
  • You can renew them online or phone the Library.
  • Items that are overdue cannot be renewed.
  • An item that has been requested or reserved by another borrower cannot be renewed.

I forgot to return my library books on time. What happens now?

  • An overdue notice is sent to you 7 days after the item is due back – the cost is $2.00 for the notice.
  • If there is no action, an account notice is sent 21 days after the due date for the value of the items plus an additional charge of $10.00.
  • Borrowers with charges of $6.00 or more will be unable to borrow until payment arrangements are made.

I have lost an item or it has been damaged. What do I do now?

  • Contact the library for assistance
  • A $6.00 fee plus the item's replacement cost will be charged. Staff will give you full details

Bulk Loans to Institutions

  • Kindergartens, schools, nursing homes, etc may join the library as institutional members. Up to 50 items may be borrowed at a time for a three-week loan period. Contact your local library.
