By 1 June each year the Chief Executive Officer is to provide member councils with a copy of the regional library's proposed annual budget prepared in accordance with the Local Government Act 1989.
The annual budget includes standard statements and descriptions of activities and initiatives to be funded. As well the budget includes a statement as to how activities/initiatives will contribute to achieving the strategic objectives set out in the Library Plan.
Public notice of the budget is given: the draft budget is publicly displayed for 14 days for inspection and written comment. The annual budget is to be adopted by 31 August each year: a copy of the annual budget must be submitted to the Minister by 31 August.
